34 Weeks Old

The hot discussion at Lowe's (and at Kelly's Grandma's) the other day was: "Who does the baby look like?" The new poll for the next few weeks will be just that. My answer is: Annika. However, depending on the angle and the circumstances, she does look a lot like the two of us.

I know I've given Kelly this particular look quite frequently.

People comment all the time that she's such a happy baby. The only baby I've really ever been around for an extended period of time is her, so I just assume all babies are like that.

At the moment she's being a sweet angel and watching her cartoons while we wind down for the night. DVR is a wonderful invention, right up there with TV on demand. We can watch her shows whenever we want. It's great.

33 Weeks Old

Anni is getting more and more personality every day. It seems like she learns something new every day too, usually some new way of manipulating us into doing what she wants. She knows what the camera is and pulls funny faces when she braces herself for the flash, so it's getting harder to get a cute picture of her. She knows exactly what her bottles and jars of baby food are and gets so excited when she sees them. Her hair is just growing like crazy, but it's still just as blond as can be, so it's hard to see.She adores her Daddy, and loves playing with him. He can make her laugh much better than I can, maybe because he plays rougher. She yells at him when she's had enough though. Anni's still not crawling, but she can get where ever she wants to on the bed. She rolls, squirms, and pushes with her feet until she gets what she wants. She won't do it on the floor, just on our bed. She must not like how hard the floor is.

32 Weeks Old

Our little chatterbox is the sweetest baby! I love coming home and watching her face light up when she sees me.

Stranger anxiety is starting to kick up, but only with men. She was fine with the girls in the apartment complex's office, but started crying as soon as the maintenance guy smiled at her. Sid came by on Saturday and she was ok with him from a distance, but cried when he held her. We went to see Sid's mom and sister on Wednesday last week and Anna sat on Kami's lap, just happy as a clam the whole time.

She's learning new tricks all the time, such as taking off her diaper. I don't think she means to do it, she just likes playing with the Velcro tabs and ends up opening them.

She's still working on mobility, but nothing within about a 3 foot radius is safe. She's learned how to get to her tummy from sitting and can wiggle and stretch to get what she wants from there.

She loves her feet and likes to suck on them and tries to hold her bottle with them.

31 Weeks Old

Anna is sleeping through the night really well lately, probably because she won't nap during the day. Getting her to bed at night is going much smoother too, again, probably because she's exhausted. She hasn't really even fussed the last three nights, just chattered to her puppy for a few minutes and fell asleep on her side cuddling him.

She likes books, and likes being read to, but doesn't quite have the patience to sit on our laps through a whole story without trying to eat the book.

30 Weeks Old

At the end of the week Anna will be 7 months old. It's gone by so fast. She takes in so much of what's going on, it amazes me sometimes. She'll watch us using something, set it down, and she'll reach for it either immediately or as soon as she thinks we won't notice. Such as our cell phones, TV remotes, clothes, and keys.

She can balance on her hands and knees for about 10 seconds, but hasn't started rocking on them yet. We went to breakfast with my mom, Grandma Sonia, and Grandpa Tom yesterday. She was an absolute angel. She sat in the high chair and ate her cinnamon, raisin granola baby food and then just watched all the people. She's a charmer, and just smiled at everyone.

We visited Kelly's parents on Saturday. Anni's afraid of her Grandpa Brent. She cried whenever he tried to hold her or came too close. I just think she needs to spend more time around him and she'll warm right up.

29 Weeks Old

Anni is sick. We've been very lucky that she's been so healthy so far. She's fevering off and on, peaking at about 102 last night. Now she's got a horrible runny nose and is tired, cranky, and has the chills.

Poor little thing, it just breaks my heart to see her miserable, but she's being a trooper. She's just oozing from every orifice. Her eyes are runny, her nose is beyond runny, I think it's gone to triathlon, and she's drooling like crazy.

We gave her one of the baby teething cookies the on Saturday. She really seemed to enjoy it, but halfway through a little piece broke off and we had to take it away from her. She's getting closer and closer to crawling. She bounces on her hands when she sits and can push herself backward a few inches on her tummy. If she's on our bed or a slick floor she can push herself around in a circle to get to her toys.

28 Weeks Old

Our little monkey has started laughing at funny faces and noises now, not just tickling. It's strange what she finds funny. She laughed at Kelly sneezing yesterday and at me laughing at her. Anna is so close to crawling! She gets her legs under her when she lies on her tummy and pushes forward with her feet, but just ends up pushing her face into the carpet. When she's sitting and her toys are out of reach she'll rock forward and reach as far as she can. Sometimes she reaches too far and falls on her face. She hasn't quite worked out all the mechanics of it, but it won't be long. I'm putting a poll on the sidebar for when everyone thinks she's going to crawl. Army crawling counts. I'm going to say that any kind of mobility counts.

She's started growling and grunting to let us know that she's annoyed rather than just crying. She learned to spit really well today.
