5 Weeks Old

Our little rugrat is 5 weeks old today. She is a mover and a shaker, that's for sure. When we put her down for a nap she'll end up turning completely perpendicular 10 minutes later. Diaper changes tend to be a game of "dodge the flailing limbs with a desitin loaded finger." She usually ends up with a big smear of it on her leg or belly. At least she won't be getting diaper rash on the fat rolls on her thighs.

4 Weeks Old

Anni is 4 weeks old today, and will be a full month on Thursday. I can't believe how quickly it's gone by. We measured her with Kelly's tape measure this morning, and she's just this side of 21 inches. She's still about 9 pounds too. She's eating more though, about 3 oz rather than 2 at most every meal.

This is the pacifier Uncle Tom got for her.

We're still having some trouble getting her to sleep at night. Fifteen minutes in the car seems to solve a lot of problems though. She sleeps off and on during the day, usually really well at about 3 pm.

This is our favorite face that she pulls. Pursed lips and one eyebrow raised, kinda. It's like she's asking "What on Earth are you doing?" She's starting to get little fat rolls!

3 Weeks Old

Anni is at about 9 pounds now. We put her on bathroom scale yesterday, highly inaccurate, but good enough for a guess. We're not sure how long she is, but I'm guessing that she's gained another half inch to an inch at least. Her 0-3 month clothes are finally starting to fit.

She's still crying most of the night. We're not sure why. She's hungry a lot, possibly because she sleeps through a lot of her meals during the day. I'm going to try to keep her on a better schedule today to see if it makes a difference.

She loves being on her tummy, and half the time will only sleep if she's laying on her belly on mine or Kelly's chest.

She's growing so fast, but she's still just tiny. Kelly's hand seems huge compared to hers. She's definitely a Daddy's girl. Our little bug is telling me that it's time for lunch. Over and out.

2 Weeks Old

Anni is 2 weeks old today. I can't believe how quickly it's going by.

We've worked out most of the nursing issues, except for me being sore, but that will go away eventually. She's getting into a schedule and wakes me up to feed her now. I still try to pay close enough attention that she doesn't have to get into a full blown crying jag to get fed, because then she won't nurse very well, swallows a lot of air, and ends up with gas bubbles.

Kelly just finished feeding her here, she looks like a little drunk passed out with her bottle.

She sleeps really well most nights, but once every three nights or so she just won't settle down and can't seem to get enough to eat, so I end up walking the floor with her till 4 AM. The trick, we're learning, is to try to keep her awake for longer stretches during the day.

You'd think Kelly was the one up with her all night, instead of me.

I'm back into my pre-pregnancy clothes and only weigh 135 lbs. I haven't weighed this little since Jr. High. As soon as I can start exercising to get rid of the extra skin and pudge my belly left, I'll look better than I have in years! Whoo-hoo!

One Week Postpartum

She sleeps just like her daddy. Yesterday was one week from Annika's arrival into the world. We're still pretty tired, but getting into the swing of things. I'm a little achey, but that's to be expected.

My belly has pretty much gone back to what it was before the baby. My weight has dropped back down to about 150, what it was pre-pregnancy. I'm hoping to get it down to 140 in a few months when I start exercising and working.

I haven't decided if I'm going to switch to posting everything on my original page, or if I should keep Annika related stuff on this page. If I do that, I'll never post on the other one, because she's our whole lives now.

I think I'll just post weekly and monthly pictures of her on this one and use the other one more for updates and milestones.
