These Boots are Made for Walking

Anni took her first steps! She walked all the way down the hall, while I was at work, of course. She's trying to do it, but usually only makes it about 4 or 5 steps before she falls.

We're working with her as much as we can and she's getting better. I give it another week and she'll be running circles around us.

Swimming

We took Annika swimming at our pool for the first time yesterday. It was a little cool and the water wasn't heated, so she wasn't very happy about it.

We'll try again on a warmer day.

We felt bad that it was too cold, so we put her in the bathtub to play when we got back home.

Anni's first swim

51 Weeks Old

Tomorrow is Annika's first birthday, so I'm not going to say much here. We'll get her weight, height, and so on at the appointment on Wednesday, so I'll post that then. She's got seven teeth, 3 on top and 4 on the bottom, with one more in the works. She walks like a pro with someone holding her hands, but won't try it alone. She can stand alone, but panics and sits as soon as she realizes that no one is holding her.

She still loves to play in the tub, but gets into everything. She's started throwing things to see where they go and if I'll pick them back up. Naps are still a fight, but she sleeps through the night 90% of the time. She really likes her whole milk rather than the formula, and prefers grown up food to her baby food.

She's grown up so fast.

50 Weeks Old

Anni has both her top teeth, plus one more coming in up there, and four on the bottom. She's all set to eat that cake!

Kelly's been sick and every time he coughs she points at him and says "Buppy!" It's pretty cute. She's been really cuddly lately too, I just love it. As soon as she learns to walk I doubt she'll want to cuddle.

49 Weeks Old

Annika has more personality in that little body than some adults I know. Today she's been biting the spoon when I feed her and play tug of war with it like a dog. She just constantly wants to be moving and hates being stuck in one place, like her high chair, bouncer, or bed.

She's spent a lot of time with Kami, Sid and LaRae over the weekend. She loves Kami, and was terrified of Sid for the first little while. She warmed up though and he packed her all over the place.

Still no progress toward her first word, but it's coming.

48 Weeks Old

Annika is just a few weeks away from her first word. Right now it seems like it's going to be either: doggy, bye-bye, Mama, Dada, or hi. She just jabbers a lot, but those words seem to be emerging with some sort of understanding.

We pulled her hair up into a little ponytail. It was just the cutest thing I've ever seen, until we took it out and she had this faux hawk that would not give up.

She loves her juice boxes and is really good at drinking from the straw. She does forget to swallow and ends up drooling juice all over the place sometimes, but we still love her.

Puppy Love

Annika and I went to visit LaRae and Kami yesterday. The highlight of the visit for her seemed to be playing with prancer.

Things started off rough with too many puppy kisses, but my trooper never cried.

Then she learned how to keep Prancer at bay.

By the end of the visit, she had found a new friend.
